Act Early with New Diagnostic Imaging for Alzheimer!

What is Alzheimer?

Alzheimer can be detected and treated if possible. When detected at an early stage in active patients, any intervention that slows down the advancement of the condition holds the promise of extending a person's productive life and postponing the onset of dementia.

Provides access to a pathway of care, including enrollment in clinical trials. Enables patients and their families to seek support and plan, offering hope through a proper diagnosis. Targeted medication, lifestyle management, and treatment of comorbid conditions can enhance the quality of life. Addresses safety considerations in the context of cognitive impairment, including the ability to continue driving.

What is Amyvid?

Amyvid is the first FDA-approved imaging agent used to estimate the density of beta-amyloid plaque in the brain, which is an indicator of Alzheimer's disease, although such plaque may be present in patients who do not have Alzheimer's disease. Diagnosing Alzheimer’s is complex Its not done by a single test you need to do several tests for diagnosis, and it is based on individual health history physical examination, and cognitive testing.

How the Amyvid imaging works?

Amyvid underwent evaluation in three clinical studies. These studies involved analyzing images from healthy adult subjects and individuals with various cognitive disorders. Terminally ill patients who had agreed to participate in a postmortem brain donation program were also included in the evaluation.

Amyvid sticks to β-amyloid plaques, and its F 18 isotope makes a signal seen by a PET scanner. Amyvid pictures tell us if there's amyloid, helping rule out Alzheimer's Disease (AD). If there's amyloid, it fits with AD diagnosis. It can also be in people with other brain issues or normal elderly brains. If there is no amyloid, it does not match AD. This helps doctors make better diagnoses. Studies show Amyloid PET makes diagnoses more certain and can change what doctors think.
