Polycytemia Vera

P-32 therapy is reserved for patients with polycytemia vera over the age of 75 years or with refractory disease unresponsive to other treatments. Not all patients respond to therapy. In responsive patients, effective remission may last for years. P-32 therapy increases mean survival but carries an increased incidence of leukemia when compared to phlebotomy therapy alone.
